Call When You Can
If your child's primary tooth has been knocked out of the socket, do not replace it. Call our office as soon as you are able - be prepared to share your child's age and a photograph of the tooth (or missing area in the child's mouth) if possible. Primary teeth are not replanted, however a dental exam will be necessary to rule out any additional complications and confirm complete avulsion of the tooth.
If your child's permanent tooth has been knocked out of the socket, put it back into the socket immediately, if possible. If replantation is not possible, store the tooth in milk or the patient's saliva. Do NOT leave the tooth out to dry or put it in water. Avoid touching the crown of the tooth if possible. Call immediately - replantation of the tooth should be completed by a dentist as soon as possible!
If your child has broken a tooth, call our office as soon as you are able. Attempt to take a photograph of the tooth if possible. If there is a savable fragment of tooth that broke off, store it in milk until it can be reattached.
